The hubs and friends really made me feel special on my fortieth last week. That number can be a bitter pill to swallow, but if this week long celebration is any indication, the forties are gonna be alright. It started on Monday before my birthday with an absolutely out-of-the-blue-surprise birthday party {maybe that is why they are called surprise parties!} with food catered from my favorite local Mexican spot Milagro, yummy marghs, and great friends and family. It concluded a week later with two days in Block Island with the whole family {9 of us in a cottage in town} and girlfriends from childhood.
The forties are a great opportunity to reflect on how you want the second half of life to take shape and being wise enough to know the most beautiful moments come when you dream big, work hard and then just step back and let go.
