white on white.

These wedding details from Green Wedding Shoes hightlight the beauty and simplicity of going back to basics. White on white, calligraphy, paper flowers, tarnished silver + mercury glass and a sweet garden party feel. Pretty inspiration for a sunny June morning.

mango + coral love.

Today's forcast Orchid Island, FL: 75 degrees. Mystic, CT: 7 degrees. Beautiful images from this wedding found on Snippet and Ink make me nostalgic for our own breezy, beachy, tropical wedding with similar casual, seaside vibe . I feel warmer already.

2010 color of the year.

images found here

On a grey day like today, what perfect timing that Pantone 2010 Color of the Year is the ultimate antidote... turquoise. Shades of that tropical blue pop (whether tiffany, robins egg or turquoise) has been a long time favorite of mine in wedding decor {here, here and here} I particularly love it against creams and tans and a bit distressed. Finding turquoise waters in February may be the perfect way to honor the choice!

simply orange.

photos found here

Orange is rarely the color that kids pick as a favorite. It never seems to make Lucy's top three and those lists seem to get carefully resorted monthly. It is the underdog of the color wheel. It also has the distinction of being one of the only words in the English language that have no other words rhyme with it. Orange as a color is terribly underrated.

These are just a few of my favorite weddings images using gorgeous warm shades of gold, apricot, peach, copper, flame- quite simply, orange.

Happy Halloween Weekend!

Pantone Swatches: The Wedding Palette

We still laugh at how many conversations, emails and magazine tear sheets were exchanged between my mom and I for color ideas when it came time to plan our (Mike and I, that is) wedding. It did not help that it was a destination wedding at my parents beach club so mom got stuck with the thankless task of scouting out locally just the precise shade of mango and coral for all of our decor items. Not pink and orange. Not salmon and fushia. Very specifically, mango and coral. I still cringe thinking of how picky I got in the planning process.

So to avoid these long consultation sessions-how smart is this concept found at Snippet & Ink from the leaders in color? Pantone Wedding swatches from Dessy eases the communication process between graphic designers doing your invites, the florists and your bridesmaids. Even with our wedding behind us, I could still spend hours here in the color chart and creating inspiration boards with all the beautiful Pantone color combos!

Morning Coffee #17: harvest yellows and hay white

It has been a while since I have posted a Morning Coffee room-to-wedding design inspiration board. While I am not a big fan of overly "themey" wedding decor- this one seems appropriate for the season. Plus, we have a hand crafted Harvest table being built by a talented woodworker and friend---so everything harvest is on the brain! Images found for the mood board courtesy of All Things Lovely

Morning Coffee #16: peat moss+harvest brown+ cream

images for inspiration board found here

September is here. The sky is a deeper hue of blue, the air is crisp and the crickets seem to begin their song in late afternoon as the evenings cool off quicker. There is a distinctive mood and feel we all recognize from school days that accompanies the beauty of September. To me, it is when we should celebrate New Years. Can't you picture a big Harvest Moon and late September celebration? Routines change with the seasonal shift and it seems to just jump start a reflective spirit.

That said, this summer in New England we were a bit jipped. Summer didn't really kick in until July so I am not alone with the hope that we get plenty of those long Indian summer days to enjoy the beach. I prefer the quieter pace and September is the "new June" for Weddings at the vineyard- something about the softer light, moderate temperatures perfect for outdoor ceremonies and grapes plump waiting for Harvest. Thought it was fitting that this posting of Morning Coffee highlight the soft tans, greens and creams that come with late summer/early fall celebrations. This rooms seems to be the perfect Summer into Fall room inviting casual gatherings- the Italian tile, a glass of wine and maybe a fire to warm up the cool evenings. Happy Autumn!

Morning Coffee #15: spring green + white

We recently repainted our living room from the teal sponge paint and lavender trim (no joke-slowly undoing the special touches from the previous owner) and all of a sudden the outside is coming in again. We chose Benjamin Moore's sailcloth with cloud white trim and now we can actually see past the walls to the blossoming Hydrangea tree just beyond the porch. It is amazing what simple neutrals can do. The colors in that tree are the inspiration for this post- the celedon green and the white buds are so simple and fresh. Today's inspiration board, courtesy of Snippet and Ink, perfectly captured the summer freshness-road trip ready. It is, after all, our 100th post birthday- we decided to go easy on ourselves and borrow (not make) this pretty inspiration board.

Morning Coffee #14: red + white + blue

This whimsical, child-like room in navy, red and white inspired this Independence Day board. The primary colors are the perfect backdrop for a kid friendly outdoor rehearsal dinner or rustic wedding on a farm. Photos are courtesy of talented duo Gertrude & Mabel out of California. Hope you had a happy 4th!

Morning Coffee #13 : robin's egg blue + cream

For a while this winter, posting my Morning Coffee Series became an obsession. I loved translating an inspirational room decor into a photo montage for wedding design. It is a sure sign of summer and wedding season when I start borrowing inspiration boards because I am so short on time. I will try not to make it a habit!

But when I saw this gorgeous photo montage from Kiss the Groom- it perfectly captured my love of robin's egg blue. A color that keeps resurfacing as an ideal color to both inspire and soothe. When used sparingly in decor, it pops beautifully against subdued and earthy creams, organic fabrics (sisal rugs, linens) and distressed wood furniture. In weddings- perfect against tan suit linens and sand for a summer beach celebration!

Morning Coffee #12: peach + slate gray

This posting of Morning Coffee takes the gentle slate gray and contrasts with the very feminine pale pink or peach tone. If Grey is the new black or chocolate brown- it makes for the perfect, soft neutral to contrast against most any Spring color!

Morning Coffee #11: violet + spring green

Leave it to Green Wedding Shoes to find the perfect vintage + rustic bridal fashion with timeless elegance. This room inspiration has been sitting in my Morning Coffee ideas folder for several months. The celedon green and deep violet of this room in a seemingly vintage home is the perfect reflection of this bride's look. Check out the incredible talent of photographer Stephanie Williams from Southern CA. It may just make you want to get married again to have her capture it. I am smitten. I would surely wear a birdcage veil and T length wedding dress in my do-over dream.

Morning Coffee #10: bubble gum pink

By May, the shades of Spring pink will be in full bloom- from tulips to cherry blossoms to peonies, the flowers explode in color from the palest dusty rose to the brightest pop of fushia. Early Spring treats us to a million lovely shades of fresh greens and deep earth brown. In contrast, this posting of Morning Coffee celebrates the how this room, this uber frilly bride (how wonderful to pull that off!) and my corresponding inspiration board contrast the soft and ruffled shades of pink against the simplicity of black or cream. Think Spring. Think Pink.

Morning Coffee #9: black + white

The elegant black and white of this bedroom is a perfect example of colors that define classic elegance in wedding decor. The room decor via Ruby Presscan shape the perfect Audrey Hepburn inspired look from both Our Labor of Love and tablescapes from The Shooting Gallery.

Morning Coffee #8 : beach tans + whites

These rooms- breezy & beachy with distressed wood and multiple shades of white and cream are the perfect inspiration for a true beach wedding. How lovely is this wedding celebration? Skip the tent. Bring in the cigar rollers. Burlap, linens and wood beams with flowing feminine touches play beautifully off one another. To me, it is the perfect balance of masculine and feminine influences. Another lovely wedding photographed by Elizabeth Messina ( clean & classic with perfect lighting, beautiful composition, and an eye for lovely details) with room images courtesy of Skona.

Morning Coffee #6 : wasabi green + gray

This posting of Morning Coffee is inspiration for how a masculine metallic slate grey with wasabi green can look sleek, modern, even feminine with a pop of color and fresh plantings. This is the vision for our bathroom with black frames, brushed chrome fixtures and accent colors of bright green or yellow. I absolutely adore this tablescape from Friday's Green Wedding Shoes- Poppies are my favorites. I had heard the Antelope Valley, California Poppy Reserve in the Western Mojave Desert comes alive with color in the Spring. Poppies bloom late March to early May and comes to full blossom in warm sunshine and curls up in wind and cold---hmmm- sound familiar? Poppies are the perfect Spring bloom. Happy Spring.

Morning Coffee #5: rustic brown + green

The vintage chic and rustic charm of this room and this barn wedding seem to play beautifully off one another. We have had our eye on Whitney and Jesse for some time- Our Labor of Love- a husband and wife team heading up a fantastic photography studio out of Atlanta. A true photojournalistic philosophy capturing all the humor, emotion and natural lighting with a soft grainy vintage feel - this couple have a wonderful thing going.
